Solinco had never done a brand collaboration before. After an introduction, I saw an opportunity to bring high-performance tennis together with a streetwear brand carrying real cultural weight. Something I was genuinely excited to push forward.

Brain Dead is a globally recognized streetwear brand, known for long-term collaborations with Oakley, Adidas, The North Face, and Arc’teryx. The difference was simple: Brain Dead’s Kyle Ng plays at a USTA 4.0 level, uses the Solinco Whiteout, and Brain Dead’s Oakley shoes and sunglasses were already part of my rotation. This wasn’t about making tennis look cool—it was about building something that felt right for the sport and the culture around it.

I initiated and pushed the partnership internally, acting as Solinco’s creative and technical lead throughout the collaboration.

While Brain Dead led the creative design of the racquet, string, and bag, I helped ensure everything stayed true to Solinco’s performance standards and brand. I designed the custom Solinco × Brain Dead logo, supported the technical execution, and helped lead marketing, key art, and pop-up experience planning—bringing Brain Dead’s creative vision into a real, performance-ready product system.

The racquets sold out in under a week, demand led to a re-release later that year, and the collaboration earned coverage from Forbes and Tennis.com, driving conversation across YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. As Kyle Ng put it, “Most brands just do a color up, but for this collection we went deeper… being able to make my own tennis string setup is the ultimate dream.” The success expanded Solinco’s perception beyond core tennis into culture and design and established a long-term partnership with Brain Dead.
